I am addressing you as the responsible of the Protection of the Cultural, Historical and Natural Patrimony, to request that the Teatro Albéniz be classified as a Landmark of Cultural Interest and Public Use, due to its great historical and Artistic value, as well as for the cultural function that it has and still represents for Madrid; and to prevent its demolition for commercial and real-estate purposes, with the consequently cultural pillage and loss of its educational and social function for this landmark of the centre of Madrid.
Our structure Ultima Vez, the dance company of the Flemish choreographer Wim Vandekeybus, has performed in Teatro Albeniz in the past years. The Theatre, being located in the very centre of the city, offered us a unique opportunity to present our work to the public of Madrid. We do hope that the cultural importance, for both the people of Madrid and Spain as for the international art community will be taken serious.
